Global Carbon Footprint
The Carbon Footprint is a measure of the Greenhouse Gas emissions associated with a consumption activity, a product, a region or a nation.
It takes into account the greenhouse gas emissions occurring during the production of goods, thus reflecting the responsibility of the consumer for the emissions associated with the goods consumed. Of 8 consumption categories investigated, food contributes most to the total carbon footprint, 20%, the operation and maintenance of residences 19%, and mobility 17%. Services account for 16%, manufactured products for 13%, and construction for 10%.
